Selvage

An edge produced on woven fabric during manufacturing that prevents it from unravelling.

Grainlines

The weave of the fabric; which direction the threads are running.

Crossgrains

Are the threads running the width of the fabric- from one selvedge to the other

Warp & Weft Threads

Warp and weft are the two basic components used in weaving to turn thread or yarn into fabric.

Bias

The bias grain of a piece of woven fabric, usually referred to simply as "the bias", is any grain that falls between the straight and cross grains. When the grain is at 45 degrees to its warp and weft threads it is referred to as "true bias." Every piece of woven fabric has two biases, perpendicular to each other.
